The Kaanapali Beach Club resort is located right on the North Shore, next to the beach and it also has an acre sized pool, so you can hang out at the pool or on the beach, the choice is yours! It used to be an Embassy Vacation Resort, but it is now run by Diamond Resorts International. Because it has changed hands it has gone by a few different names, including the Ka Anapali Beach Hotel and the Embassy Suites Maui. I do find it interesting that this is a converted hotel property. I would imagine the conversion process was fairly expensive and expansive. While normally I prefer purpose-built timeshares, Ka’Anapali is one of the most popular Hawaii timeshares, so I wouldn’t let the fact that it is a conversion get in the way of planning a visit.
Since Kaanapali is a timeshare resort, accommodations are spacious suites (1 or 2 bedrooms) and housekeeping is only done once or twice per week (but you can arrange additional housekeeping services if you like). There’s a grocery store practically across the street from the resort, which can help save you some money as you’ll have a full kitchen if you decide to prepare some of your own meals. If you own a resort that trades through Interval International, you may just be able to exchange into Kaanapali, which would be a great way to experience this resort.
In addition to their amazing pool (and great beachfront location) Ka’anapali Beach Club also has a Lounge, Cafe, Restaurant and Coffee shop on site. They also have lots of on-site activities. The resort has its own dive shop with all the equipment you’ll need for your favorite water sports (including Surfing), and they can also book whale watching tours. Love Yoga? Of course, if you want to get outside the resort and see the rest of Hawaii, or at least get to know Maui, then there are tons of activities which the concierge can help you find out more about — so whether you want to visit local museums, go hiking, horseback riding or want to rent a scooter or moped to take yourself on tour, there are lots of options for you.
If you are visiting Ka’anapali as an exchanger or a renter, you will likely be invited to attend one of their timeshare presentations. I have frequently heard that the folks who do the presentations here can be quite aggressive salespeople, so you may want to carefully weigh the benefits of agreeing to the presentation. There’s no sense wasting some of your precious vacation time stuck with an aggressive salesperson if the only thing being offered is a few discounts.
