For a resale, you are probably best off making sure to buy a Fairfield timeshare that is already part of the points program rather than buying a fixed week and converting it. For some of the fixed week resorts, only the original owner can do the conversion, or you will wind up having to buy a ton of points from the developer and that's not going to be any kind of cost savings. So make sure it is already part of Fairfield's points system.
You can use your Fairfield points at any resort in their system and you have a home resort advantage booking window at your home resort. In addition, you can also deposit your points into RCI. So basically, Fairfield offers a very flexible system and is a great value if you are looking for a timeshare resale.
